However the opportunities to find cheap accommodation in the capital are limited. What cheap options are available aside from the prestigious hotels in which to spend the night in Berlin?
Whoever likes to sleep in a tent or has a caravan/mobile home with them will find numerous camping sites in and around Berlin without any problems; a nice quiet spot for the night.

Well known backpacker hostel, centrally located in the district of Frierichshain, surrounded by all sorts of trendy shops, pubs clubs and bars; a tip for young backpackers.
Hostel managed by the same company as above, located directly at the Bahnhof Zoo. Lies directly in the heart of the capital hence all localities are reachable within the shortest time. In total there are 550 beds available – with or without its own shower. Single and double rooms can also be booked.
In Berlin Mitte lies the meeting centre called the Jugendgästehaus, which serves as the ideal place for an overnight stay on a sightseeing tour of Berlin. The house has a total of over 228 beds and was recently extensively modernised and now offers many amenities whilst still remaining value for money.
The abbreviation CVJM stands for ‘Christlicher Verein junger Menschen’ (Christian association of young people – akin to the YMCA). This long established Berlin club has for many years been a guest house in which individuals, families and groups can stay over night for a very reasonable price. In total the house has space for 80 guests in 21 rooms. The staff is very friendly and ensures that guests are immediately made to feel at home.
An in 2002 extensively modernised hotel, specially tailored to meet the needs of young travellers. It is located in close proximity to the Kurfürstendamm and offers single, double and shared rooms.
Those who prefer something a little quieter and therefore wish to stay somewhere outside of the city is in the right place in the Pegasus Hostel. The romantic building – a former Jewish girl’s boarding school, despite its quiet location offers the ideal starting point for tours of the city. It is located in Berlin Friedrichsain and within five minutes walking distance of the Ostbahnhof.
In the centre of Berlin near the Potsdamer Platz lies the biggest youth hostel in Germany. Here people (predominantly youth) from all over the world can meet and easily socialise. Due to its excellent location, nearly all of the tourist attractions in the city are quick and easy to get to.
